Owner
Kara Kirby is the owner of K² Bookkeeping based in Tulsa, OK meeting clients in the office and virtually.
After graduating from Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, SC with a bachelor degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management, Kara moved to the Atlanta area. She worked in the hospitality industry in Operations Management, Human Resources and Accounting for hotels, a catering company serving the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center, and convention centers including the Georgia International Convention Center and the Georgia World Congress Center. Relocating to Tulsa in 2001, she has worked as an accountant in industries such as commercial and residential property management, medical supply, book publishing and cellular.
With over 25 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, Kara stepped out on her own in 2016 to create K² Bookkeeping and become a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. As a small business owner herself, Kara is passionate about helping small businesses reduce the amount of time spent on bookkeeping so they can concentrate on their core business. This is done through collaboration, training, customized solutions, and creating procedures specific to their needs, to maintain their books efficiently and consistently.
Kara feels her greatest achievement in her years of helping small business owners is the ability to get PPP assistance for 100% of her qualifying clients in the first round of funding, and receiving 100% forgiveness, with a total of $1.4M in awarded funds. All of the clients Kara had before the COVID19 pandemic are still in business, and remain current clients with K² Bookkeeping.
In addition to her business accomplishments, Kara has run a marathon and completed a 100-mile bike ride also known as a full century. In her free time, Kara enjoys the outdoors; camping, hiking, kayaking and cycling with friends and her husband of 28 years. What’s next…. Kara is adding personal financial coaching to her offerings saying “I want to see everyone enjoy the peace that comes with financial freedom.”
